Dredge Barden\'s Inlet
Barden\'s Inlet from Harkers Island to Cape Lookout Lighthouse has become a navigational hazard to recreational boaters and commercial boaters. At low tide there is barely enough water in this channel for one boat to safely navigate. As the summer approaches, boat traffic will only increase. On a holiday weekend there will be no less than 500 boats using this inlet for a thoroughfare to the Atlantic Ocean or Cape Lookout. This is sure to create a safety hazard for all who use this inlet for access to the Cape for the purpose of fishing, sightseeing or for a day at the beach. This inlet needs to be dredged as quickly as possible to alleviate the possiblity of someone getting hurt or the economic impact it could have on the surrounding communities if boaters can no longer use this inlet for access to the ocean or our national park.
