We as residents of Woodstock strongly oppose the presence of the Dreams Sports Bar and Drifters African Pub located on Victoria Road. These two establishments are the main reason why this stretch of Victoria Road, from the Woodstock Town Hall until just past the Debonairs pizza outlet, looks like a slum. Noisy drunk patrons wake up many hard working residents in the neighbourhood as they shout, fight and even defecate in the street, while stumbling their way home in the early morning hours. They have no respect for residents, and the management at both pubs have been ineffective dealing with drunk loutish behaviour. As property owners and residents of Woodstock we believe that the presence of these two pubs are ruining the suburbs standing, and preventing proper development and forcing down property value in the surrounding area. As property owners and residents of Woodstock we have the right to say who can operate their business in our neighbourhood, and we believe that there was no proper public participation when the pubs opened their doors. We the undersigned demand that 'Dreams' and 'Drifters' close down and move out of our suburb for good, and that the respective building owners respect the rights of residents not to lease their properties to what are no more than sleezy Shebeens fuelling alcohol abuse in the city.
