Newport-Gwent Dragons is a welsh rugby union region covering the east wales region, 5 counties and nearly half a million people. The naming of the region has always been somewhat controversial and has alienated many rugby fans throughout east wales. For a region to survive, support is needed from fans and the only way forward as a united rugby region is to rebrand and embrace the entire east wales region. Newport RFC is a club in its own right and deserves to be separate from the regional rugby franchise. This petition is to the board of the Newport-Gwent dragons, to re-brand themselves as "THE DRAGONS", and take a large step towards uniting all the rugby clubs within the east wales region. Rugby fans across the region have come to except the fact that Rodney Parade is and will always be the home of the region, but the only way forward, for the region, and for the fans, is to once and for all become "THE DRAGONS".
