My name is Mandy. I’m eighteen years old, and have been a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, for a long time. I went to Drag Con as a graduation gift last year and had so much fun. I met dozens of queens, looked at beautiful art, attended hilarious panels, and shopped until I dropped. I was so inspired and it made me love the show and the LGBTQ+ community even more. What wasn't fun was the five hour airplane ride (ten total hours if you include the trip back), the $450 ticket PER PERSON round trip, renting a car, and staying in a hotel still under construction (more money). None of my family had ever been to Los Angeles, and were lost most of the time, stuck in typical traffic. I am fortunate I was able to attend Drag Con, but there should be an easier, less ludicrous, way for me and other East Coast fans to experience the magic. In this proposal, I'm asking WOW and RuPaul personally to host "RuPaul's Drag Con" in New York City. It should be similar to Comic-Con, where there are two different cons in two different locations, run by the same company under the same name. I want everyone to be able to experience the magic of Drag Con without having to travel across the country or spending a ridiculous amount of money or any sort of hassle.
