JOIN A CAMPAIGN TO "DRAFT PROPES IN 2010!"

Atlantans need to advocate NOW for a homegrown police chief who is proven effective at team management, who is detail-oriented, who is attentive and creative when it comes to public safety issues...and who truly loves the City of Atlanta. From long-running observation of ATL Police Dept Majors and crime-fighting talent, it's obvious we have a great unsung hero in our midst. This petition drive is just one element in the "DRAFT PROPES IN 2010" campaign.

E. Renee Propes is the Major of Zone 6 and a great asset to those she serves. Everyone you talk to admires her for her character and highly respects her performance on the job. She works well with diverse groups, is very well trained, and has worked with the APD since the mid-80s. She proves herself time and again as a “take charge” Major who is quick to respond to problems with concrete action. She's not one to tout her own horn, grab the limelight, or seek political favors. Major Propes is a “nose to the grindstone” kinda cop. She's got some really good advance training, too (Quantico, VA police training for 3 weeks one year, for example.)

The City of Atlanta is facing a real crisis when it comes to public safety…and nobody can solve the problems of gang violence, home invasions, burglaries and smash/grabs at small businesses with the same methods and status quo that's been running the APD for years.
We are concerned citizens, community leaders and activists who share a vision of what qualities and talents we’d like to see in our next APD chief. The "DRAFT PROPES IN 2010!" campaign is a movement growing in support from the grassroots level. There is no funding or political patronage behind this citywide campaign. The City of Atlanta is at a crossroads, and the time for change is NOW!

We the undersigned workforce, taxpayers and residents of Atlanta, Georgia support and eagerly advocate Major E. Renee Propes be strongly considered to serve as our City’s next Chief of Police.
