Attention Clear Creek Independent School District Trustee:

The Galveston Daily News on August 11, 2012 reported only "4 districts pass Adequate Yearly Progress Targets" states reporter Christopher Smith Gonzales. In the article, CCISD Superintendent Greg Smith blames the reason for the district not passing because there are too many special education students in the 10th grade taking the test. Really?

If there are more children taking the test than recommended, it simply means is a "true" reflection of the community.

Any parent can choose for their child to not take state mandated testing. Additionally, in the special education community, there is an option for a modified state test that must be agreed upon by both educators and parents. In either case, these parents are allowing the district to administer the test so that scores can be equally reflected.

Dr. Greg Smith did not take responsibility for the scores, or the students. Instead, he played the blame game on the special ed students. The AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) are not the Olympics-hey lets shave a bit off from the top and a bit from the bottom-these are not crime stats, these are our children! Accountability starts at the top Dr. Smith. Take responsibility for your words and actions. Dr. Smith, resign as Superintendent, you are not wanted in this district.
