While I understand the need for advertisement. No warning was given for this change. Taking away the ability to change back to our original backgrounds is a restriction of freedom of speech.

Computer backgrounds may seem trivial, but the sudden change without warning comes across as invasive, purposeless, and obnoxious.

Why would you even do this. This gives us no individuality. Forcing a universal wallpaper makes everyone the same, and if everyone is the same then nothing is exciting or interesting.
