Reasons for Concern:

The Dow High parking lot is already hectic and dangerous due to congestion.

Lack of designated spots would cause students to rush and compete for "prime" parking daily.

Increased potential for car accidents in a dense area full of inexperienced/first-time drivers, scanning each row for a parking spot.

Distracted and frazzled drivers—students and parents alike—will contribute to further disorganization.

Non-designated spots will add an extra element of stress and anxiety for students, especially for new drivers.

Students may have to exit one parking lot to enter a new one, resulting in increased traffic on the roads.

Michigan winters make driving conditions difficult and dangerous.

Students may speed on slick roads to get a good spot, increasing accident risk.

Snow buildup already makes spots hard to identify; designated spots at least provide consistency.

Without designated spots, snow-covered lots will become even more disorganized.

Students in Co-Ops or dual enrollment programs may arrive at school midday and struggle to find parking.

These students already have long commutes and tight schedules—extra time parking increases tardiness.

General student tardiness and attendance issues are likely to worsen without a guaranteed spot.

There will always be students who are going to be tardy or absent; this will only hinder those who do prioritize getting to class promptly.

Disagreements over parking spots may lead to drama or conflict.

Students may refuse to pay for parking passes but still use the lot, leading to overcrowding.

More cars than spots will lead to students parking wherever they can, causing chaos and fairness issues.

Losing the tradition of seniority in parking will hurt student morale, especially among rising seniors.

Students with accessibility needs may lose guaranteed spots, risking daily complications.

Spots have already been guaranteed to some students.
