We have already booked a week in IoM for June. Had we known that the horse trams were being scrapped we might not have bothered coming!

It is sad that the Government has decided to scrap this unique form of Transport part of the Manx heritage which makes the Isle of Man unique and is world famous.

Cannot believe that the authorities would be so shortsighted as to even contemplate closing this marvellous & vital attraction; a key, must do component of any visit to the Isle.

This is a unique historical and tourist attraction in Douglas with possibly the only horse tramway in the world remaining to have a history of continuous operation since 1876, with the exception of closure during the second world war. In my opinion permanent closure of this tramway would be a foolish decision to make, which could leave Douglas and the Isle of Man worse off in the future. There must surely be ways found to make the service viable such as allowing the use of volunteers to operate the service. The Blackpool tramway has been constantly adapting and improving their heritage tramcar services since 2012 with volunteer crews, more trams added to the collection, imaginative services such as "Fish 'N Chips" on-board the trams on selected dates throughout the year, etc. If Blackpool can do this with a "can-do" attitude towards their trams, why can't Douglas do the same for their horses, trams and tramway?

How sad that such a decision is taken without examining alternative ways of funding or operation. The horse trams are part of the delight of visiting the island.

Our Association has brought groups from Australia every two years or so for the past forty years.with total numbers in excess of excess of 550.and normally stay in Douglas for 4 to 5 nights.ahead. If the proposal goes ahead sadly we will not visit the IOM in the future as there are many other places in the UK that would welcome our income.

That decision will cause me to change the tourism travel plans that my family and I had. You can "save" what you can measure directly, You can't measure the real "cost" because it is not directly measurable. Another short-sighted decision by elected representatives who supposedly have the overall and long-term welfare of their communities in mind when making decisions.

I am a regular visitor to the Isle of Mann and not only enjoy riding the horse tram but use it as a means of transport along the promenade.

I visited this railway in 1999. It was wonderful. I then thought that it was really great that you could still run this testimony of your History. And now you will close it ? Please, don't do that !
