I want my children to learn from unstructured play, possible exclusion and conflict resolution. This will not happen in controlled environments. It is setting them up for too sheltered of a viewpoint. It is ridiculous for Edina schools.

Thank you for starting this petition! Concord Elementary needs to allow kids to have their own unstructured recess time on their huge playground and fields. So much learning takes place during recess, and many new relationships/friendships form...without adult supervision!! Kids who need the structure and choose this Playworks are still separated from all the kids who did not choose to participate, defeating the purpose of Playworks to promote more cohesiveness for kids of different backgrounds.

Our kids are instructed and directed most of the day, I don't want recess to be also instructed or manipulated. Let our kids be kids.

This program is ridiculous, kids need to learn to resolve conflicts, my daughter hates it!

I feel very strongly about removing the new recess program. Our kids have 20 minutes of free time. I fe very strongly during their 20 minute of free time, they should be able to have their free time to do what they like. They are good kids. In 7 yrs at Concord, there is not one incident I can think why they should not be able to have a normal "20 minute" recess.

Please bring back Trent and Coach Jonny. My kids miss running around in the fields. Thanks for considering.

Free play time is too important for kids to develop creativity. They can't and should not be constantly entertained.

I cannot fathom why this program was approved. Concord already has assigned lunch tables, assigned classroom seating, structure, structure, structure. This program will be a disservice to the Concord students. They need to learn all the skills mentioned in the petition--especially when they move to on middle school.

As an educator I understand the desire to find a best practice for our students, in this case the best practice is to allow the boys and girls an opportunity to be engaged in activities they choose with appropriate super vision to guide and model play ground etiquette. Not to be huddled into options that they are being chosen and directed for them. If they're is a middle ground to be had, let's work twords a goal that both parents and administration can agree on.

This program is not an appropriate fit for Concord. Its implementation has reduced the value and quality of the recess program. Unfortunately, as well, the implementation of the program was not appropriately communicated.

While I respect our school and administration to try out new programs they feel could be in our students' best interests, I agree this program isn't a best fit for Concord.
