I personally do not believe this is a good idea. Often I must pick up my 8 year old brother from the bus stop and watch him for an hour. If the times are switched then my family will be forced to put him into a daycare center or leave him home alone. Also, many students have after school activities and with these activities come time cramps. Students, like myself, need time for school, homework, extra activities, and for themselves. Ending the school days at a later time will only create more problems then it will fix. Along with these two reasons there are more. If you are looking for students to get more sleep this is a poor approach. Making the day start later will only encourage us to stay up later. After coming to realize many downfalls to the plan of a later starting time I hope you will leave the times as they are for now and the future.

Try getting a job that would hire you everyday before school for an hour a day. Plus if school activities are earlier our sleep is just as messed up so what's the point

For those who did not know this, Henrico County already has this, and after school practices were done before school instead. So it would not interfere as much as you may think.

This change would interfere with the play practices that I do at a different school that start at 4:00. If this change were to happen, I would arrive 30 minutes late to every practice. It also interferes with the Youth Orchestra Program practices every Tuesday that start at 4:30. I need to pick up my sister from her school first, and as a result we would not arrive on time. Both programs are outside Chesterfield County and thus would probably not change times just because I would need them to.
