For years Xfire has been a staple of many gamers and gaming communities. Today in a small note under the notifications icon on the client interface they ambiguously informed users that they would be ceasing social operations in less than 48 hours. As an avid user of their chat client, I'm not only disappointed that they would discontinue a service that I've used almost daily for years now. I'm not the only one viewing it from this perspective. If they can't offer the full blown game support, etc., it would be nice if they at least offered a scaled down IM client.
