We talk about participation but we remove programs that took years to set up. Keep these girls in the rink not on the streets.

I played with the team in 96/97. So many girls went on to play college hockey, some with full scolarships. Don't take this opportunity and life building skills away from the girls.

This wanting to do away with this, makes no sense what so ever it’s taking away dreams of our youth

It’s a shame to see our small town lose such a great program for girls

As a former billet home, I can only imagine how devistated the families affected would be. We should be creating more opportunities for young women, not taking them away.

Taking away girls hockey in this region of the province is a terrible idea and doing such a disservice to the many girls who will no longer have the chance to play. Bring back the Meliville team!

We have a granddaughter that plays bantam this year, now you’re telling her she can’t play in a competitive league. You’re so wrong.

Why are we not making MORE FEMALE teams, to encourage girls to play hockey!!!. If this was a male team, there wouldn’t even be a discussion. There would be no cuts. Talk about going backwards in society!!

Our niece plays on this team and we have heard only positive things. Our son left home to play AAA hockey, so we understand the importance of not only a great hockey program, but the friendships and connections to school and community for these kids. Please... keep the Prairie Fire burning!
