Given the repeated incidents and obvious anger management issues, not only should he not be reinstated as a full time teacher, I find it ridiculous that the administration is forced to create new job categories just to keep him in the building and on the payroll at taxpayer expense while exposing children to the risk that he may act out again. People seek out new careers every day, either by choice or because they're not suited for the ones they're currently in. The primary focus of public education should be to provide a supportive environment where education can take place, it is not to serve as a jobs program that just happens to involve dealing with children.

A teacher engaging in this type of behavior should not be allowed to teach children who are defenseless against an adult with authority. He can easily abuse them in the classroom with no one to defend them. It is unacceptable to allow him into the classroom with elementary school kids.

This man should not be allowed around children. To be in the position he is and cause the type of harm he has, is beyond words. Deserves more than just a slap on the hand.

Richard Parlini Should not be allowed to teach at PS101 School in the Gardens. I do not want him near our children based on the allegations from former students at our school.

A teacher with substantiated claims of punishing and verbal abusing a student should not be allowed back into a classrooms setting.

My daughter (now in 9th grade) lived in fear of science every week when Mr. Parlini was the cluster science teacher. She would tell me stories of how he randomly picks on, yells at and publicly shamed other students each class. Her strategy to survive was to have all her work done and keep her head low to not become a target. My strategy was to keep quiet since she hadn’t been targeted and I WAS AFRAID that speaking up would put her in danger in the classroom.
His behavior is the definition of bullying. The exact behavior that we spend months trying to teach our kids to recognize and stand up against. What does it say about our system that allows a bully to remain in a job he is not suited for, and puts very young children in the line of fire for his temper and abuse? Aren’t we doing exactly the opposite of what we want our kids to do?

A teacher with this sort of track record has absolutely no place in a classroom. Shame on the UFT and the DOE for the disservice to parents and kids by keeping him in the school.

I remember my daughter being nervous and hearing stories about him. She’s now in middle school but no child should feel the way my daughter did about a teacher.

If these claims are true, it is my opinion that it would not be appropriate to reinstate full time teaching responsibility.
