I have been on many lakes that Have had weeds sprayed. Ask any angler who fishes lakes in the state. We see firsthand the effects that poisoning the grass does to the fish in the ecosystem as a whole. I have seen countless times when they poison the grass and all that happens is fish float to the top they have growths on them when you catch them in many of them die. Doing it in the spring is even worse that is when the fish Spawn and no one knows what it will do to the eggs most likely kill them. There needs to be an alternate solution to remove the grass. I have never seen grass that has been killed from poisons not come back. It may take six months but it always comes back. Rogers Lake in East Lyme was sprayed last year by October the grass was already back. Not to mention killing it with chemicals does not remove the grass it only makes the stems stand dead. Leaving the watercolor dirtier in the grass moldy and muddy looking .

Charges should be brought against the town of New Fairfield and any other municipality considering the poisoning of this delicate ecosystem.

Please do not poison Candlewood Lake. This will not solve the root of the problem and further, will create other problems. Please seek solutions that work WITH the ecosystem in a sustainable manner.

Weed KIller is a losing option and provides short term results on the weeds but long lasting negative results for the fishery and ecosystem. Candlewood is a premier fishery. Please don't ruin it.

I grew up on the lake in Brookfield. My family owned land under that lake. This is very irresponsible and dangerous.

Candlewood was approved as an emergency reservoir or was being considered as one. Right now we are in a serious water shortage just drive by the Saugatuck reservoir it is down around 12 feet. Why would we ever remotely consider poisoning a potentially critical water supply during times of drought. Please rethink this Candlewood is a lake not a contained swimming pool. Those of us that have spent time on lakes after applications of herbicides have seen dead fish and smelled the stench of decaying plants.

This should go through proper channels seeing it is a state lake where tax payer money is spent on the maintenance and upkeep.

One town should not have the right to poison the water that everyone uses.
