Have never seen a good result from poisoning a lake. The fishery, and the monies made from the fishery, will take a huge negative hit.

Why would you dump chemicals into any water body? We want clean water, not polluted water.

Candlewoods fishery brings in people from all over the country to visit and fish the lake for recreation and also tournament fishing. Because a lot of the surrounding states have closed fishing seasons and also that Candlewood lake is one of the best fisheries in New England, it draws a lot of people. We have a world class bass, perch and crappie fishery. The amount of money that fisherman in and out of state bring to the surrounding towns is not something to be overlooked. If something happens to this fishery, you will not have people visit the lake like they do now. Because of the abundance of vegetation in the lake, it creates cover and food for both predator and prey. I understand that the grass is a nuisance for people that want to swim in the lake and I believe that there are alternative ways to keep the grass under control without having to use chemicals. Chemicals will destroy the ecosystem in that lake and the fishery will not be the same. What makes the vegetation grow out of control like the last few years is mild winters in combination to a small short drawdown. If the lake is drawn down to 7-10 feet every winter, you can control the growth of the grass especially with a cold winter. I understand that the lack of rain poses an issue to filling the lake back up again running the risk of introducing zebra mussels to the lake from the housatonic River source. As much as I would not like to see zebra mussels in the lake, they would still be better than dumping chemicals and let's face it, they will probably make it in there eventually. The bottom line is that if you put chemicals in the lake, it will affect the fishery on Candlewood lake which will hurt th economy. This is one of those deals where it would be hard for the lake to recover from if chemicals got introduced. I hope people can think about this and think about everyone as a whole, not just the homeowners wanting to swim off their dock but the grandfather that takes his grandson fishing to enjoy t

When you kill grass you kill bass. The population of largemouth and smallmouth bass will not survive if you carry through with this measure. Do not ruin this fishery.

I have traveled here from new York many time for the great fishing. Once this ecosystem is altered I will no longer be going there since I know the fishing will be poor. I have seen this done with pesticides or adding species to filter the lake. CT has a great fishery so let's keep it that way

I've been a resident of new fairfield for 28 years and a lover of our beloved lake and nature for as long It is truly remarkable to be out in a kayak and have a blue heron one moment and the next a bald eagle fly overhead while fish are jumping. The pleasure of coming home on a hot summer day from work and diving into the delicious lake water. Please don't ruin it with chemical treatment. I would like to have my grandchildren swim and not worry if they accidentally swallowed some water. Remember we only borrow the earth from our grandchildren Please have N.F. Rejoin the other lake towns with a smart approach to lake management

Do not put poisons in Candlewood Lake! Have these people lost their minds? Do any of them live on the lake? Do they even use the lake? Will they allow their children to go swimming in the area where the poisons are dispensed or stay away and swim in their pools? I plan on attending the Public Hearing! NEW FAIRFIELD BOARD OF SELECTMEN ANNOUNCE PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THEIR PROPOSAL TO USE PESTICIDES IN CANDLEWOOD LAKE FOR MILFOIL AND ALGAE CONTROL When: Thursday, March 2nd at 7:00 PM Where: Meetinghouse Hill School - 24 Gillotti Rd, New Fairfield, CT 06812

DO NOT POISON OUR LAKE AND KILL IT WITH POISONS! Introduce more sterile carp and let that program grow.

It is my understanding that the lake is a back up reservoir for the area. Do we really want to introduce these chemicals into water that could become drinking water in a future immergency? Let stick with the carp and give them time to do their job.

Shared decision is important. My kids swim in the lake all summer.

Rebuttal from experts are needed to make the dangers of chemical treatments absolutely clear to the public. NF sadly, in their "go it alone approach", saps much of the positive energies of the Lake's advocates. We all suffer as a result.
