As an avid bass fisherman, Candlewood lake is the most important feature CT has to offer. The fact that one town did this without soliciting the DEEP, other towns or the residents of CT who care about the lake proves that they know what they're doing is wrong.

This will probably result in disaster. Several lakes in Connecticut are dead now because of this...

All possible methods should be explored.
The use of herbicides and algaecides should be the last resort.

Herbicide will hurt all the species of fish in the lake by eliminating a large cover source and sanctuary for young of the year fish. Recreation revenue will fall in coming years as a result of poorer fishing. Aquatic vegetation is a natural element of the aquatic ecosystem. Enjoy the resource as it is without destroying the resource you have.

Don't ruin our best fishery!!!!
The state of Connecticut should ask or require the power company that regulates the water levels in the lake to do 15'-20' draw downs every winter. They have done in the 1990's. That would help a lot in weed control. 10' draw downs do very little in the way of killing the weeds.
Or some kind of weed eater/mower/cutting instead of poisoning our beautiful resources!!!!!
The state should NOT allow any chemical to be put in ANY of our lakes to kill weeds.
Next will be chemicals to kill the zebra muscle. You may control it but never eradicate any invasive species!
Our lakes need weeds for a stable eco system. Whether for oxygen ,cover and protection of bait fish. I am neither a scientist or an expert in weed control but there has to be a better way than killing all the weeds with a chemical. They have no control over the chemical when dumped in the lake, how much weed they kill or which direction it speeds in.
Don't ruin our best fishery!!!!!

Speaking as someone in the field of science this would incapacitate the ecosystem that is Candlewood Lake.

Don't do it, could lose a great fishery that may never be the same which could in turn effect the economy in surrounding towns.
