My family built in Sag Harbor Hills in 1951 as did my wife's family. My parents rented in Eastville at the old Mahaw's cottage on Hempstead prior to that.

Unscrupulous and predatory individuals, hiding behind LLCs and their lawyers and contractors, are trying to exploit and capitalize on traditional communities, to drive out and replace the ownership there. It's abhorrent what is going on now. I live in Sag Harbor.

I've seen the plans for the property that my grandparents first purchased in 1955, the first of 3 to build in Ninevah. My heart aches to know that this property will soon fall into the hands of someone who has no regard for the historical integrity of this corner of what was once a little paradise for my family.

No homes above 4000 sq feet, destroying our cultural and historical legacy. ARB and members of the BoT must protect these communities over big money and legal threats.

We must protect our historic communities against this attack by developers who see these homes as commodities to buy, demolish and sell in their unending pursuit of financial gain. The African American communities in Sag Harbor are not only an important part of our historical legacy, but that of our country's as well.
Don't pillage our village
