I don't know if it's a bad idea or not but it seems like we're groping at straws before any concern for preservation or a long term vision or plan that's astethically beautiful, represents the people of this town and makes sense. Schmutzing up a landmark/historical spot as a quick fix would be a shame.

The town needs to build a multi story lot as in Millburn, Montclair and soon in So. Orange.

This is an irresponsible proposal for many reasons. The proposal to pave the west side of the WC doesn't solve the parking problem and ruins a beautiful natural setting in the process. The price tag for this proposal is also completely off the charts.

My concern is twofold - one is the issue of removing green to create a nominal amount of parking spaces. The broader issue is that this is an example of how the TC looks at incremental change and maneuvering to solve big problems. Big problems, like parking in the Village, require a bigger plan or set of solutions.

My understanding: The town is willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to take down trees, put up a retaining wall at the bottom of a steep hill, deal with a creek flowing through the lot and adding additional lighting -- all to pick up a few extra parking spots not far from the Maplewood village. Really? In a residential zone on a beautiful street? Doesn't seem like a prudent solution to the parking issue in Maplewood. I'd like to know exactly how much this is costing us.

Maplewood is about to commit a costly, unnecessary mistake. We need to stop it. This is a much-to-expensive way to pick up a few parking spots near downtown.

please do not pave the women's club lot- terribly bad move for our beautiful town.
Maplewood needs a better solution to this whole issue.
Maplewood and the Historic Woman’s Club building would be best served by a beautifully landscaped and terraced green space in that residential area.
Please keep the green. No more concrete.
