For those interested in taking a stand to fight this and who live within 4 blocks of 319 Pennsylvania Ave SE, please contact me about being a part of the official group who will oppose this to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA). The deadline is October 13, 2020 so I need to finalize our list of "protestants" (their term) by October 11, 2020. Please contact me at [email protected].

Bars are meant to provide a venue for conversation over drinks, not for staring at gambling machines. Beyond that, gambling is not in tune with the ambiance of Capitol Hill.

No sports betting in DC, no sports betting in Capitol Hill, and while I’m at it, FIRE EventsDC, too!

We live a few blocks away and this is in between our house and my kid’s school as well as their park. I am just starting to let them roam out on their own and would be hesitant to do so if this establishment were permitted to open.

This is not an appropriate location for a business like this. If people want to gamble, they can go to a casino. Gambling and alcohol are a recipe for violence and crime. We have a young daughter and live less than 100 feet from this location. Anyone leaving this place will be walking by our house. There are so many kids who walk past that spot on a daily basis and live or go to school in the surrounding neighborhood. This kind of business does not belong here.

We don't need an establishment that invites crime and violence to a family community. We strongly urge our ANC 6B commissioners and all governing DC agencies to reject the liquor license for Handle 19

It is completely inappropriate for a sports book serving alcohol to be in a residential area with so many young families, schools, and playgrounds. We live in the closest house to this proposed venue and the owners dont seem to care at all about the impact on the community... because they dont live here. They have no plan for the impact on parking, the increased crime from people who have lost their bets, or the consequences of mixing alcohol with gambling for the surrounding community. This is not the place for their venue and I hope the community will join me in making sure that they know that.
