Absolutely ridiculous decision from the planning department. I really hope they see sense and this is given the go-ahead.

It is not up to the council to decise what is and is not viable when their money is not involved. Stop bleeding the rural areas and centralising everything in Lerwick.

I used to live in Shetland. It's ridiculous for the planners to refuse this application on climate grounds when everyone has to drive everywhere anyhow. What it will do is give people choice of where to eat, help the economy of a smaller district and in turn help the economy of Shetland as a whole. To refuse is unbelievably narrow minded and unjustified.

Living innruralbShetland I have to drive if I want to eat out. These planning conditions do not reflect rural Shetland life!

It would be a good change from usual. I think it would be very good addition to the islands. Vehicles have to be used for just about anywhere so I think that is a load of rubbish

Most everyone has to travel in shetland to a restaurant, poor excuse. it will also provide jobs in a rural area.

Just because the restaurant isn't being planned in a built up area doesn't necessarily mean it won't be successful or sustainable.
