My uncle, cowboy Rosa was an original beach boy. He taught thousands of people how to surf and when he passed away there was over 3000 people at his funeral coming from all over the world to see the man that taught him to surf. When he was alive he was against regulating the Beach boys because “That was not the Beach boy way”. So many things that made Waikiki what it used to be is gone, we’ve lost the natatorium long ago, the international market place and it’s quirky charm to a big moneymaking place that locals cannot afford and now this. Regulating the beach boy’s would be another nail in Waikiki’s coffin. I wish that my grandchildren could’ve enjoyed the Waikiki of yesterday. At least they can still enjoy going downtown sitting under my uncles tree in Waikiki and And watching the beach boy in their “any kind style way” teaching tourists to surf.

How u going learn if not from a beach boy!!!! They know the ocean currents,waves the motion of the ocean that others just can’t teach!!!! Keep it simple and keep The Beach Boys alive cause they know how!!!

I am born and raised Oahu and Hawaiian beach boys taught me and my sister to surf Waikiki in the fifties. I am also the widow of CoconutBarry Kamano,proud beachboy in front of Outrigger Reef#hautreeohana

Brian Benton has No purpose being in those Beach Stands. If he does he will be doing Dive Charters from the Beach and then you'll have Surfers running over Divers in the Surf Zone. That guy is Pilau.

Some things must remain sacred and hold the authenticity of the islands. Many things have changed in Waikiki please don't disrupt the Hawaiian beach boys.

Preserve the Waikiki Beach Boy. As I see it, it is an important and sincere gateway to surfing and ocean related lifestyle. We need more people to connect to the ocean as it's a precious resource. Learning to surf from a 5th-6th-7th generation surfer is a great place to start
