The hawaiian culture has been one of tradition and respect. We have slowely eroded away the true identity of the islands through gentrification and pandering to outside interest. The tourist should also be able to experience what real aloha is and not a processed version of such. It is in the interest of those abroad and at home to keep the honored tradition of beach boys alive. The political nepotism and corruption that plagues city and county as well as state will be our downfall. If any legislators or representatives see this they should understand that risks must taken to stand against status quo.

I believe that if they want something to be so appropriate to the culture, they’ll keep the culture, culture. The Beach Boys has, and always will be the heart and soul of the beaches of Hawaii.

Our islands are being used for money. Prices for everything are inflated to make money off of the tourist. These people don’t understand tradition. The white man has always stripped tradition and culture from natives; we need to put a stop to this now to show that he is inferior to those who have passion for what they do.

Don’t let this unique part of Hawaii’s culture be sold out to a bunch of dorks in khaki shorts with iPads. This is embarrassing, the thought that local people will lose part of their culture and livelihoods in front of Duke Kahanamoku. This is a mistake and will be a shame if Dive Oahu is allowed to operate instead of our Waikiki Beach Boys.

Hawaii and the location of Waikiki are unique and deserve to retain their unique island flavor. Look at encouraging and elaborating on the local culture meeting the tourist culture not a continuation of exclusionist high end marketing strategy of the investors. Keep it unique, keep it local, keep it Hawaiian. This is Hawai'i after all!!!
