Waikiki beach is known for the beach boys in surf shorts n batefoot. Tourist enjoy the service they get and keeping coming back. This is a tradition who wants a dive shop out there.

Being from the mainland and visiting Hawaii every year for the last 18yrs I have seen the take over not change from big corporations. I now live in oahu and am sad & angry that all they want to do is make the islands like everywhere else. Hawaii is special , that's the reason people come here. I don't want San Francisco, I want Waikiki ( old hawaii)

You shouldn’t change the culture. It’s surfing. Go make a wave pool and have your polo shirts hung up there.
