My dad is a beach boy so are all my uncles it's been around for so many years it's part of our culture it's what makes hawaii a place to come to and this is something I want my kids to see and love and continue

The whole point of teaching someone to surf is to actually show them (hands-on). One can't be taught just by just an explanation or a manual, neither by someone who knows nothing and is inexperienced. To change tradition of teaching people is really ridiculous.

I do not understand why people come in & make decisions to make Hawaii more like the mainland. It seems Hawaiian culture & people is getting loss more & more. Local people can not afford to live in their own state & what they do have keeps getting taken away. I just don't get it . Visitors want to learn & feel our spirit of Hawaii although these decisions that are being made seem to be taking away Hawaii from us that were born & raised here.

The beach boys are a staple in the community and it would be ridiculous to see over 100 years of tradition and work, truly teaching visitors, and even some locals how to enjoy the ocean safely, be thrown away...

I’m a 17 year resident of the state of Hawaii and received my first surf lesson from Big Todd that got me stoked on surf. I’ve been an avid surfer since. The experience with Todd, his style/Aloha that is exhibited by all The Beach Boys down there cannot be replaced and is the heart of Waikiki beach. Please keep things the way they are!

I grew up playing at Waikiki beach and now I live in Waikiki and enjoy the same waters I grew up in. The Beach Boys have always been there and even before I was born. They're a part of Waikiki and I have had friends and family that learned to surf from them.
