I enjoy kayaking, but there are plenty of places to do so. If the additional restrictions were for ecological reasons it would be different, but it seems this is not the case.

This a special interest group trying to monopolize a small area of the lake for their private use. This is the area used for years and years by many, many Havasu residents and visitors as a very safe and secure place to teach our young kids to ski and wake board. This area has reciently been closed to all boating EXCEPT a small group of Havasu Kayakers who apperently have an "in" with the 'powers to be".Please do not allow special interest groups to monopolize this or any area in our beautiful lake. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is responsible for this closure at the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, not the Arizona Game and Fish Department. AZGFD has no authority to close or open any stretch of the Colorado River, and had no part in this action. http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Havasu/alert.html

This is absolutely ridiculous! They already have over 50 designated areas. What brings more money to the city? Kayaks or boats? Boats! Don't bite the hand that economically feeds this town and made it what it is today.

This area is in the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge which is managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service not the Arizona Game and Fish Department (or Dept. of Fish and Game) as stated in this petition.
