Don’t Let Clyde Push Out Mr. Smith

We, the students, parents, alumni, and community members of Clyde, are coming together to support Mr. Smith and urge the Clyde-Green Springs School District to reconsider the decision not to renew his contract as librarian.
Mr. Smith is more than just a librarian—he is a mentor, a supporter, and a constant source of encouragement for students at Clyde High School. He has coached quiz bowl, donated to the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), volunteered for school and community events like trunk-or-treat, and consistently reached out to students even after graduation to check in on their success and well-being. He shows up for every student, regardless of their background or popularity. That’s not just doing a job… that’s leading with integrity, compassion, and heart.
Now, without clear explanation or transparency, Mr. Smith is being let go.
Many believe this decision is political, part of a long-standing pattern within the district where qualified, dedicated individuals are quietly pushed out while others are advanced through personal connections. We’ve seen it before—coaches removed, staff overlooked, decisions made behind closed doors—and now it’s happening again.
We are not okay with that.
We are gathering signatures to show the Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education, the Superintendent, and school administration that the community supports Mr. Smith and demands accountability and transparency in staffing decisions. The petition will be delivered to the Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education prior to the next board meeting.
This isn’t just about one man losing a job. It’s about standing up for the kind of people our schools should be protecting and recognizing the difference they make in students’ lives every single day.
Stand with Mr. Smith. Stand for what’s right. Sign below.
