US Veterans of the Vietnam War and Vietnamese everywhere were shocked upon learning that the LA Board of Supervisors had just proclaimed April 30th, the Black April Day, the "Jane Fonda Day".

Jane Fonda backstabbed US troops in 1972, when during the height of the Vietnam War, she came to Hanoi to spread propagandas for the communist government - praising the aggressive invasion of communist troops who were invading the Republic of South Vietnam. She sat by the anti-aircraft gun, the one that used to shoot down US Jets in North Vietnam, posing to spread communist propaganda. All these activities, while US pilots are imprisoned and tortured in prison nearby and US troops being kill in the battles. 58,000 US troop lost their lives and more than 1600 still missing in action. Jane Fonda back-stabbed US soldiers and she committed treason to our Country, which was at war with the Communist Vietnam.

April 30th also known as the Black April, the day when the sky had befallen when the Republic of South Vietnam defense collapsed sending hundreds of thousands to forced labor prison camps for years; their properties and financial were expropriated; and their families were shattered in forced labor in jungle economic redevelopment zones.

Did the LA Board of Supervisor lost hindsight that such a date to honor Jane Fonda would create deep pains to the US Vietnam War veterans, and to millions of Vietnamese political refugees.

Community leaders are writing to the Board urging them to rescind or at the very least choose a different date if they still want to honor Jane Fonda - something like her birthday instead of April 30th make more sense.

So will you please join us to sign this petition and send a strong message to the LA Board of Supervisors. Together, we can stop the pains that have inflicted on our veterans and the Vietnamese political refugees.

Dear Supervisors, If you are to honor a Jane Fonda for a set day that recurs annually, please set it as her Birthday, which is December 21. Looking through the board documents, it appears that you have selected 4/30 simply because that was the meeting she would be attending to recieve this recognition. This is truly a dark twist, as April 30 is observed around the world as one of the darkest moments of south Asia. Do not keep this date. Move the celebrations to Jane Fonda's birthday if you wish to celebrate her. Thank you for your consideration.

Please recind or change the Jane Fonda day on 30 April. This in insulting to American and Vietnamese veterans who fought during Vietnam war.

It’s the saddest DAY in history of South VN and it is a very sensitive day to all to have fled communism in search for freedom. So many of lives have lost due to the circumstances. Intentional or unintentional… She can be proclaimed on her birthday or other date; but most definitely NOT 4/30 Greatly appreciated for your consideration of our pains and suffering including all our Veterans

Let the Vietnamese American Community have a day where they can mourn a lost of a country with dignity rather than an ugly reminder of Jane Fonda and what she did with the communist party.

Jane Fonda was one of those contributing millions of Vietnamese boatpeople had to sacrifice their life to look for freedom after the communists took over the South Vietnam.

Please cancel the Jane Fonda day on April 30. It is insulting to 58,000 American soldiers who died in Vietnam war to protect freedom. Every year the 30 April the Vietnamese who loves freedom in Vietnam and living around the world are mourning the loss for their beloved country and the loss of their loved one who died during Vietnam war. Recognize Jane Fonda day on 30 April is putting more salt in their wound.
