Don't Get Rid of Live Musicians on Dancing With the Stars
Dear Candice Ashton and other producers of Dancing With the Stars,
We, the fans of DWTS and of live music on TV, strongly protest the decision after 17 seasons to remove the DWTS Big Band and replace it with a "small electronic band" - meaning canned, watered-down recorded electronic music to replace real, live players and singers.
ABC/Disney says the DWTS Big Band, comprised of 28
talented musicians, singers, arrangers and copyists, will be replaced by
pre-existing sound recordings and a "small electronic band" to "attract
a younger viewer demographic," but we, your fans, ARE your demographic, and we are going to miss the live music. Dancing With the Stars is one of the most popular programs on TV, and one of the main reasons is the wonderful live music we have come to expect on the show. Recorded electronic music can never replace the interaction between the dancers and the live players and singers we have enjoyed every week for 17 seasons.
We urge you, as your fans, to reconsider your decision and hire back these 28 talented musicians.
Sincerely,
Your Fans
