The Lake Oswego School Board is going to vote very soon on a change to the existing school transfer policy. The current policy allows students to attend any L.O. school outside his or her "home" boundary, as long as there is room at that school. A change in the transfer policy would affect hundreds of L.O. students and families who utilize this policy for many different reasons.
Please sign this petition if you believe that the LOSD Board should: 1) Continue the current policy allowing students to attend out-of-boundary schools. This is part of what makes LO a great school district. 2) If the Board insists in making a change in the transfer policy, the change should only apply to new/incoming students and families, and current students should be grandfathered in. Forcing current students to change from their current trajectory (i.e., forcing them to return to their "home" junior high or high school) is disruptive, arbitrary, and ultimately damaging to families in this district.
The momentum behind this petition proves that families are not going to let these disruptive policy changes move forward without a fight. Post this link to your personal Facebook page right now. Email your school board representative and demand they grandfather in all current students.

My son has his whole support system at his current school. Changing the rules on us like this is super shady.

Grandfathering is the only fair way to handle this. Disrupting a kid in the middle of their education is just wrong.

My kids have finally settled in at their school and have friends and teachers they love. Moving them now would be absolutely awful for them.

The board needs to leave this alone. My daughter is a senior next year and I better not see her forced out now.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. We chose our house based on the school options available. Stop messing with our lives for no reason.

Seriously don't do this. LO schools are supposed to be about flexibility and choice.
