I have been swimming at Garfield pool for 45 years
this is the worst idea I’ve ever Heard, It makes it impossible to maintain a swimming fitness program.
It is very cruel to take this resource away from the community

There is already such limited space for weekend youth classes and cuts impact accessibility for families, especially working families.

I’ve been teaching my girlfriend to swim every Friday for the past 4 months. Without this pool open on Fridays, she won’t be able to continue learning and practicing. It’s a great pool that should be available on Fridays and Saturdays, the most convent days for working people!!!

Garfield pool has provided me with the physical therapy I need to keep my body healthy and strong. It is truly frustrating not being able to get my physical therapy covered by my insurance and yet is crucial for a long-term well recovery. Garfield Pool has been my main source of recovery. Availability for lap swimming should increase for the use of the community and be prioritized. We demand our pool schedule to increase availability and stop cutting off community services that are not only in demand but that are detrimental to a healthier and strong community.

Swimming has been a savior for my back pain. I was really looking forward to taking Gwen's "Improve your stroke" class as it has helped me so very much. Why couldn't you schedule her class on another day?!?!?

I'm a resident of the Mission. Please bring back the adult swim classes! The pool is a needed asset for all in the community, and the classes are forms of drowning prevention. We should be growing the number of swimming classes for all, not cutting back on them.

Thanks to Jane Willson for bringing this to my attention. The pool should be open more hours and for longer, a great expenditure of city resources. Garfield is a beautiful pool, and often very crowded. Expanding, not decreasing hours open and classes offered is the way to go. Our families need more access to healthy activities, like swimming! Love the staff at Garfield, and all the city pools!

I urge you to simply add Sunday to Garfield pool’s swim week! This will make everyone happy, with the pool being open, Sat/Sun—and then you won’t have to cut 16 children/adult swim lessons (58%) from the Fall schedule, which is already published! As well, why are Garfield and Rossi pools the target of losing all our classes and Fri/Sat swims, while the rest of SFRP’s city-wide pools remain the same? This represents SFRP imposing an inequitable allocation of Aquatic resources across the city—with some “haves” and some “nots” who lose family weekend swim lessons and equal access to city Pools. A classic case of “favoritism” and misuse (abuse?) of public funding, derived from our tax-payer coffers.

I swim at Garfield 3 days a week including Fridays and Saturdays. I have no access to transportation to go to other parts of the city to swim before work. Please reach out to the people who are regular swimmers. You will find that there is a significant group of people who swim very regularly at the pool in the morning.

My family regularly uses the pool on Saturday- the only day of the week that works for us as a family. Please don’t cut services on the weekends!!

I don't know what the reason is for this decision, but this is crazy. Neighborhood pools need to be open on Saturday. What a silly decision.
