losing the old loop just kills the tradition. why ruin something that works perfectly fine? leave the course alone.

How can we see if we've improved from past years if the course is changed now? (Especially for seniors this year!)

The existing 2.85 mile course is already the most difficult in the Middlesex League and extending it to a 5K is as stated, risky and it could tarnish decades worth of history. I'd be more likely to set a huge PR from my freshman year on this home course than I would trying to set a 5K PR. Bottom line: extending it is pointless.
