Armageddon is an annual even that is held at different venues and different times around the country. Every year, on Queen's birthday weekend that event is held in Wellington. People travel from all over the country and over seas to attend these events.

An integral part of the event is cosplay. People cosplay for fun, to make new friends, and to compete for the very coveted Cosplay Cup. Some cosplayers (like those who compete) make their own cosplays. This is a craft that entails many different skills and is honed over many many years. A single cosplay can can take months, sometimes years to create and the people making them can invest thousands of dollars in a single cosplay. Often these cosplays have large props or components that may be fragile.

Then we come to the issue of transport to the event. A big concern for cosplayers is keeping their cosplays intact as they travel to the event. The best way for people travelling from the Hutt Valley, Porirua, and other areas further out from the city, would be by train, since the arena where the event is held is right at the train station. Except for that fact that every year, the trains are cancelled and replaced by buses that get far too overcrowded. When you have spent months working on something, and invested so much money and effort, it is so disheartening to have it damaged or broken within a couple of minutes because of an overcrowded bus.

So this petition is calling for all cosplayers who are sick of either having to change into their cosplays when they get to the con (in the freezing cold Wellington winter) or getting their cosplays damaged/broken! Do your maintenance on a weekend when there isn't a huge international event running!
