It is a disgrace that such a major change can be made with no regard for the family's that are, apparently, at the centre of these communities. The negative response has been overwhelming, yet the board has refused to respond.

It saddens me that a MAT built around the principles of faith has has so little consideration for the family life of the pupils it strives to support. To have to split my family up at such a precious time of the year is appalling. I also feel for the teachers and their own families/children (who were also not consulted in the decision making process) as many will be spending time apart from each other at Christmas. With so many stakeholders against the decision it is very disappointing that a further statement has not been released by the Limen Christi board. I fear that this is one decision the MAT board will not recover from, as many people have lost their trust in them as a credible leadership team.

To the Board of Directors at Lumen Christi: How considerate of you to give my family the opportunity to focus on Advent by allowing my daughter to finish school on 21st December and celebrate with pupils, students, families and the wider community (my son finishes secondary school on 16 December and returns to school on 3rd January). Also, how kind of you to think of us as a family by giving us the opportunity to take advantage of a reduced cost holiday (my son can presumably stay at his grandma's house whilst myself, my husband and my daughter are skiing in Aspen!). How refreshing to know that the school will focus on special events on the liturgical calendar during her last week in school (what range of Disney films does the school intend on showing that week. It will be lovely to receive a new batch of calendars/arts and craft items). And how thoughtful of you to think of our family starting the New Year refreshed and rested (I can take unpaid leave from work/my husband who is self employed can lose money by refusing work). Finally, many thanks for giving me the opportunity as a parent to be involved in the consultation process and for providing me with clarity on this proposal. This really does give me a positive vision for the future of the MAC!

I work hard all year & want to spend my full Christmas holiday with my full family. But as I have 3 children in different 2 schools with different Christmas term dates this won't happen!
How are the academy allowed to do this without consulting parents first? surely it's against all Catholic & family values ?
I am so disappointed in our school after all the support & loyalty we showed as parents during the recent special measures status. We stood by the school then & want them to stand by us now & reverse this decision.

A decision made about the Christmas school holidays without parent consultation is discraceful. I value every work free day spent with my children and to hear this will be shortened over the Christmas holiday is causing me great concern.

My husband and I need our children to have holidays when we have holidays. We try to be with our children whenever they are not in school and the new dates will completely affect our holidays for the worse.
Please, take this petition into consideration.

Have signed both petitons. I believe this to be an underhanded way to boost applications to STACS. Some parents have children in other catholic schools not in this MAC! Bring on the unauthorised attendances. That effects your targets not ours!

Of all the allegedly good things schools can do as a result of becoming an academy, they choose this. It goes completely against the grain of supporting local families.

Silly idea this, a bit like the whole academy fiasco. Is this designed to force us to send our kids to Aquinas? Which other secondary school could we choose now in reality? I'm genuinely scoobied as to why anyone would think this change, without any consultation mind you, would be a good idea. Oh and as for cheap holidays, who goes abroad at Christmas?

Not a very good idea when you have another child at another secondary school and the school holiday do not match. Who is to say if we agree with this, will you change the rest of the holidays. If anything this is splitting up valuable family time. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus whilst being around your family. Why oh why

Family is the foundation stone on which our children's education is built on, not spending three days in school, doing the usual last day of term activities, colouring, watching DVDs, need I continue? My eldest and younger two will be off at different times, which I know will deeply upset us as a family. Have the courage to listen to your parents and not a plan to attract children to a local Catholic secondary.

As a teacher employed by Birmingham city council, I will have to return to work while my children are still on their school holiday. Which results in me having no childcare.

This will compromise our family time together over Christmas and the financial burden of extra childcare and limited choice as there won't be any clubs running.
