Final supporters
This is already a high traffic area with apartment buildings and a car wash near by that creates much congestion. Adding this many more families with cars will increase the danger that is already there for children and motorists. It is a highly trafficked artery for downtown traffic and there is no traffic signal or turn lanes there.
With a school directly across the street and no turn lanes this area will be extremely chaotic in rush hour traffic.
There is also concern that emergency vehicles will be challenged with getting through the congestion this will create.
We respectfully ask the board to not approve this development. If this is not acceptable, we ask that further traffic studies be done to determine the impact this development will have on the area.

The traffic concerns you are reporting match what I see every single morning during drop-off hours. Call the planning board members this week and insist that they prioritize student safety over this new construction.

The momentum behind this push is real and the city board is starting to take notice. Now is the time to turn up the heat by emailing your representatives to demand an independent traffic study before any permits are cleared.

I grew up in Wingate and Leawood and attended Brady. I'm very familiar with the current condition of traffic, etc. This development does NOT need to happen. With no signal light or turn lanes, it will be an even bigger nightmare.
The area in which this developer is seeking to utilize is a highly trafficked and congested area. Increasing the number of automobiles will further aggravate the problem. His request should be denied unless he can provide an alternative route to help alleviate some of the congestion.
I travel on that part of Markham most mornings about the time children are being droped off for school. Even with that extra traffic and with speed limit signs posted, I often see people speeding past the school. More apartments putting more cars on that street just raises the liklihood of more accidents.
This development is directly across from a very busy public school, with tremendous congestion already. The configuration of the units appears much too dense for safe vehicular traffic, and relies on access to other property for proper spacing.
We are concerned about safety and traffic turning off of Markham - someday my children will go to Brady and I don't want where they go to school to be dangerous.
This petition says it all. There is way too much traffic and congestion in this area as there is. It is a dangerous place to even consider putting additional housing.
I oppose this development.

There's already too much congestion on W. Markham in front of Brady Elementary and Wingate residents must exit on Mississippi during rush hour which already is a problem! Safety is our primary concern!
