According to the Minnesota Star Tribune article from Sunday 2/6/11, "State may loosen its grip on sex offenders" on the front page. It states that Minnesota officals are considering releasing two extremely violent sex offenders back into our society. In 2003, officals were considering doing this and Gov. Tim Pawlenty stoped it by signing an executive order that allows the state to keep and treat sex offenders indefinately. The 2 they are considering releasing are John Rydberg 68, and Thomas Duvall 55. On the day after Christmas in 1987, Thomas Duvall was living in a Minneapolis halfway house after just getting out of prison for rape. He knoked on an apartment in Brookly Park and manipulated his way into the apartment of a 17 year old girl, telling her he wanted to use the telephone. Once inside he tied her to the bed and proceeded to sexually assualt her for 3 hours with a hammer and a curling iron. He has been diagnosed as a phycopathic personality and a sexual sadist with anti social behavior. John Rydberg in 1975 terrorized a Wisconsin couple by making the wife tie up the husband and then raping the wife at gunpoint. Then after escaping from a Wisconsin sex offender program, he fled to Minnesota where he raped a woman in front of her children in their Blue Earth County home. One of the children was able to get away and call police and Rydberg was caught soon after. He has been diagnosed as a sexual sadist dependent on alcohol. Does this sound like two men we want living near our children? If you disagree with this release PLEASE sign this petition so we can find a way to be heard by the Minnesota state officals.
