The signed petitioners asked that Don Huffines be banned from shared men's restrooms and locker rooms because he has the visual appearance of a homosexual sex predator and his presence in the shared space makes us uncomfortable.
Any man that spends so much time thinking about predatory practices of sexual offenders in bathrooms must not be allowed to use public restrooms.

Don Huffines frightens me. I would not want to encounter someone with such a perverted mind in the restroom.

This has no bearing on bathrooms. The bathroom argument is meant to dummy the entire ordinance down to appeal to the lowest IQ Texans, the Bubba voters.
Dallas added sexual orientation to its equal employment opportunity policy in 1995. Earlier this year, the City Council voted to add gender identity and expression to the list of protected classes in the policy. The city also has an ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment, housing and public accommodations citywide. In that ordinance, transgender is included under the definition of sexual orientation.
It's a rather forward thinking application that shuns discrimination, unless you wish to grasp and cling to the Bubba voter straw.
