We support having on the November 2019 city ballot a binding referendum question for Gloucester voters to determine the designation of Dogtown to the National Register of Historic Places. We are opposed to having Dogtown listed on the National Register without first evoking this democratic process. All votes on this matter should be deferred until such time.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam so fast because honestly I started this just to see if anyone else cared about the ballot process. It is wild to see people actually talking about Dogtown in real life now instead of just in my head while I stare at the woods.

I whole heartedly agree with the previous comments. Let’s not compromise the beauty and tranquility for the prospect of MAYBE securing Fed grant $ (which is what this is really all abou).
This move will inhibit the decision making power of the city over matters concerning Dogtown, as well as encourage more out of town visitors. We already have issues with this large land area which is part of our watershed. Pride in having this designation is not sufficient to counteract the potential problems it is likely to create. While proud of Dogtown, I oppose this designation and support whatever will prevent it.

We need to preserve our secret
I want the area to be open to all activities including biking and skiing
Leave Government out of our Dogtown.

Let’s try to maintain freedom to use public lands for human powered recreation. Good for kids, adults and the health of the community.
