In order to provide the Citizens of Torrance with a more well rounded recreational experience, and to ensure the safety of all visitors, both human and canine, to Torrance Parks, we respectfully request the City of Torrance establish "Dog Courts" throughout the City's various parks as outlined below. A Dog Court is defined as: * A space, similar to and approximately the size of a basketball court or tennis court, * with a 6' chainlink fence perimeter, and * a bark or other low maintenance surface, * where citizens can engage in a game of ball with their dog(s) in a safe and responsbile manner, * ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the park by all guests, both human and canine. With limitations on its use to include: * One Guest / Two Dogs at a time. (Guest defined as a family, or other such visitor(s) to the park) * 15 minute time limitation when others are waiting for use of the court. The establishment of "Dog Courts" throughout the City's parks would ensure: * The health and safety of park guests, elimiating off-lease incidents in our parks and schools, and ensureing that all guests, regardless of age or use of the park, have a safe and enjoyable visit. * The health and safety of our dogs, by limiting their exposure to one another and thus the risk of agressive behavior and the spread of canine communicable disease.
