I really cannot believe it but we finally got the green light from the city for the park space. I am honestly just staring at the wall right now because this actually happened and our dogs are going to have a place to run around without me worrying about the …
We, the undersigned residents of Homer and nearby surrounding areas, who are both dog owners and non-dog owners alike, petition for the City of Homer’s support in development of a dog park for community members and their dogs. We express widespread community desire to be able to take dogs to a safe fenced area to socialize and exercise.
I honestly cannot believe how many people want a place for the pups to run around because I was just thinking about this on a whim while dealing with my own golden retriever at the beach. It feels like the whole town is suddenly picturing the same fenced space and I am just so happy about it but also kind of overwhelmed by the momentum.

We need a dog park. My dog is well behaved but never sees other dogs so when he does he won't listen and is very over bearing best way put. If they had one not only could he get exercise cause we don't have a yard for him to run in and we work full time so it's hard to take for walks all the time. Yes to this for sure

This will be loads of work to do it right, i.e. LOTS of Gravel/Sand so it doesn't turn into a mud pit. Thanks for starting it!~

Great idea! There is a great location next to the bottom field at Karen horniday, with a trail on Fairview and wright Streets. Or at the Herc building. Maybe Jack Gist fields?

As a dog mom who recently moved to Homer from Florida I'm in 100% support of having a dog park! It's the ONLY thing my husky and I miss about Florida!

We have a dog park in Soldotna and a newer one in Kenai. What a great way to get your dogs the exercise and socialization they need in a protected environment. This may also help people to adopt dogs when previously they didn’t because they had no fenced yard.

Dogs needs a responsible, monitored, safe and fun place to play. Too many attacks on the beach by dogs because of irresponsible parents, no recall, no manners. We are a dog friendly town yet we don’t provide the space they need to enjoy themselves safely.
