I also am strongly opposed to a dog kennel in my neighborhood, let alone on my street I live on. I do not need one more thing to worry about, such as an aggressive dog from the kennel getting loose and roaming the area. My small children, ages one and three, play outside just a few houses away from this residence, and my own dog with an electric fence is often outside all day. This is no place to open a dog kennel.

The safety of my young children is of up most concern. In further research of the permit application this business specialized in training aggressive dogs. This is not a normal kennel/boarding operation.

The proposed business to be relocated at 110 Oakridge is a dog training operation that offers boarding services, primarily for their clients. (Love2LeadK9.com, which is currently located in New Britain, CT). Per the business’s website, this business specializes in training for dog aggressive dogs and human aggressive dogs with behavior problems. As a dog owner that has adopted and worked with rescue animals I will personally attest to the difficulty in rehabbing and training aggressive dogs. While I applaud the owner’s (Robyn Bergin) efforts to work with troubled canines, I firmly believe an operation like this does not belong in a quiet family-oriented residential neighborhood. These dogs have the potential to be dangerous and if they are dog or human aggressive they have a history of attacking other dogs, pets, or small children - and could repeat such behaviors should they escape her property.
I would ask the zoning commission to consider the fact that this is NOT a typical dog boarding operation and would ask that they do not grant a special permit for commercial use in a R-25 residential zoning area due to the danger these dogs may pose to neighbors.

I stand strongly opposed to a business of this nature occupying a quiet, residential neighborhood of single family homes of residents who value the peace and safety of their children and pets. Many people enjoy walking along w pets on this street that has only one way in and out. The potential increased traffic, noise and aggressive animals that will be boarded will be a significant detriment to this wonderful neighborhood, not to mention the negative impact on property values of homes that pay significant property taxes!

The definite increase in traffic through this quiet residential neighborhood, that is a dead end street, for a business is not appropriate. The likely increase in noise due to the barking is not fair to all the neighbors who have an expectation of ‘quiet’ because they bought their house on a dead end street in a residential area without a dog kennel next door.
