B"H He should receive top medical care. It takes a long time to fix a situation like this procedurally with lasting results... but given his age and health condition, it needs to move fast enough for him to enjoy some time free... not just a day, as happened with someone else who was imprisoned for a felony he did not commit, and once release through the action of information given through media, and public opinion (just a case of mixed-up identities, he was wearing a hat identical to that of the real felon, who'd escaped before enforcement officials arrived) was achieved and that man returned to his apartment, he collapsed and died, due to the trauma suffered by his body in prison. (Just one true story in a multi-story book called "The Court of Last Resort", referring to the publicity and public opinion process in the defense of the innocent.) The defense needs to be thorough for all the public to believe it (he's a true leader and if any point it not proven there could be Heav'n forbid some "Frank Lee Oswald" kind of guy trying to send him to the next world another way...) but it should not take so long that he is collapsing from the rigors of prison life. A leader of the Native American nation has served this country by providing a sense of traditional continuity and being a true point of reference for all tribes of the Native Americans, to whom we owe the beautiful condition in which we found this continent when we, various immigrants, arrived from other shores for various reasons all of which can qualify as being some kind of fugitive. They helped us, as fugitives... why are we biting the hand that, in a sense, feeds us? Only they have an intuitive understanding of the ecosystems and natural spirituality of this continent. Are we having any problems? Some economic problems? A little crime? Widespread terminal illness? I have First Nations ancestry and belong to a Plains people as well. I have been aware of the Leonard Pelletier case for many years. I remember once signing a petition in the Frankfurt, Germany airport. This issue has attained international attention and is a smirch on the reputation of the American government. Obama needs to do the right thing - release and exonerate Leonard Pelletier!

Free Leonard Peltier. Make prison a need to be there place for protection for individual and society. Make real effort to end mass incarceration with the first step by giving clemency to Mr. Peltier. Even IF he did do something...the theory of diminished return is taking place with society now owing Mr. Peltier. A living death sentence (aka life) is not fair or justified punishment, and is an exceptionally low standard for any civilized society.
Peltier has done more than his time. Enough already. Let this man go home now!
