I understand why it's taught on the same par as English, but a lot of us don't learn day-to-day Irish at home and will forget the more academic stuff like poetry (as beautiful as it is). Make a syllabus that inserts the Irish language into our lives!

There must be a key stage system set up so that all secondary first years have reached the same level.

Am a big believer in this. The loss of the language is a legacy of the conquest of Ireland by England, which as you have achieved independence, around 100 years ago, you no longer have to accept.
