I' m past Commodore of Hawaii Yacht Club. Been a tax paying Hawaii resident for 49 yrs , slip paying boat owner at the Ala Wai for 20 yrs. Enjoy the Hawaii we all love. Dont make it into something the local residents cant continue to enjoy. I ask U to VOTE NO ! Aloha ...

There are so few places in the Waikiki area where local residents can do so much in such a small area, at a price that they can afford. Do not change the rules so that only rich visitors can afford to use this incredible space.

Tourist come to Hawaii to enjoy sun and sea and culture of Hawaiians not more concrete, not just another city. Inch by inch government is taking away what makes Hawaii the destination.

This is the result of 65 years of oppressive one party monopoly rule that is accountable to no one except those who can afford to pay to play ( bribe politicians and others ) to keep this fascist regime in power. It is all about developer profits, self-interest and insatiable greed, not about the betterment of society for all. It is time for the masses to rebel and clog the streets of Honolulu around the Capitol and Honolulu Hale just like folks in other countries are doing and like the civil rights movement of the 60's and 70's.

Please do not let non-USA citizens come into the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor and invest, lease, or buy the land.

Save Ala Wai Boat Harbor for the boaters and people of Hawaii...do NOT DEVELOP HIGH RISE COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES.

If SB 1257 is passed, permittees at Ala Wai and Ke'ehi will end up paying more than is charged at Ko'olina, where the monthly rate for a 35ft slip with water and tax is $651.31, and the live-aboard rate is $329.84 per month. Koolina is a harbor where users enjoy a clean, secure facilities, as opposed to the squalor of the Ala Wai that is the result of DOBOR’s intentional neglect of the Harbor. DOBOR has openly stated that it intends to raise fees by the maximum percentage authorized (i.e. 50% per year). By 2025, the live-aboard fee for the Ala Wai and Ke‘ehi Lagoon will have increased from $150.00 to $1,708.61. In addition, all other fees charged (base fee for the boat, use of the bathrooms overrun by meth-addicts) will also substantially increase as DOBOR annually revises its rates pursuant to “fair market value” as determined by an “appraiser” of DOBOR’s choosing. DOBOR has always had the authority to raise live-aboard fees by 5% per year, via HRS 200-10(c)(4), has provided no explanation for its failure to do so, and should not be granted the authority to suddenly make these drastic increases in the fees it charges for Harbor that is essentially abandoned. Do not grant this authority to DOBOR without first requiring that DOBOR account for the monies it has been collecting for years and years. Do not allow DOBOR to destroy the tight-knit boating community that is currently within reach of people on a low-average income. Do not allow DOBOR to render homeless many good people on a fixed income who live ridiculously low-impact lives. Do not allow DOBOR to purposefully drive out boaters to make way for private development that will benefit only corporations. Please do not pass SB1257. As to HB1032, DOBOR’s only concern is maximizing revenue without any regard to the traditional uses of the Harbors for boating and ocean recreation, proven by its 2019 Strategic Plan which is available on its website. I would like to research ways to clean-up the Ala Wai Canal which feeds into directly into the Ala Wai Boat Harbor then on into The Pacific Ocean. There are ways to repair much of the drainage from the nearby condos and hotel. There are also ways to ensure future problems can be address with all our new construction. Residence at The Ala Wai could become part of solution to a large problem; that has impacted many in other parts of the world as well. Perhaps our remedy on how to care for our fresh way channels could be Convention Center Worthy?
