Both the World Health Org. And the CDC have warned against wearing masks during physical activity yet the Colorado Health Department and Governor Polis are still requiring this unnecessary measure against Covid-19. Notable states that are not requiring face masks during play are Texas, Florida, and California(If they’re season isn’t cancelled) Being a Basketball Player myself I can tell you masks warm up your breath and body temperature and do not allow you to take adequate breaths while doing physical activity. Once you start sweating and your mask soaks it in it’s as if someone is gagging you and impossible to breath. Sign this Petition to show Governor Polis and the Colorado Health Department that Coloradans and HS Basketball Players are against requiring athletes to wear masks during physical activity.

Wearing a mask while playing basketball is dangerous. Its hard enough to breathe without a mask in a gym that is hot and congested. Those with asthma have a really hard time wearing a mask sitting, if they play while wearing a mask, it can possibly be life threatening.
You try to go run around constantly wearing a mask. Basketball is the only sport besides soccer where you are consistently moving. To breath you need air.
NBA and collegiate athletes are not required to wear masks during competition and high school athletes should not be required to wear them either. Continuity should be required at all levels of competition.
Football players aren’t wearing masks while playing on the field, there are more than double the players and the contact in that sport. Let these kids play and not have to suffocate running up and down the court while they are trying to prove they are worth playing time!!!
Requiring mask during play prompts health issues and if they are on the court with the people they are with all the time besides the other team who is also with the people they see daily the spread will be limited
It is so DUMB that these students are requried to wear a mask!!! Ignorance at its finest!
Forcing players in an age range that has not been shown to be a source of community transmission is not only useless, but dangerous. This policy is downright irresponsible, and poses dangers to players who are otherwise statistically quite safe from Covid19. My son, for instance, has already had it, and it troubled him with all of a temperature raised. by half a degree for one afternoon. To avoid this ludicrous risk (which is not a risk), a mask policy would put these young athletes in danger of syncope, and head injuries when they fall down from lack of injury. I object in the strongest terms.
