if the bridge is to be renamed perhaps it should be after a limerick person?? pulittzer prize winner Frank mccourt or oscar nominee richard harris, playright kate o brien or go more contemporary and consider JP Mcmanus who has done so much for the city? certainly not JFK which is just pandering to the american tourism market, be proud of who we are as a city and celebrate it by recognising one of our own!

Have these local councillors no better use of their time!?! Renaming bridges that no one wants renamed! There are people less than a mile away from that bridge,in St. Marys park, who's lives have been destroyed by the recent floods and the people supposed to be representing them are concerning themselves with this...it's a disgrace. I couldn't care less what they name that bridge.

JFK is a tacky and touristy name for the bridge. Do these councillors have nothing better to be doing? How about getting helping struggling businesses and getting some industry and jobs into the city.

If you HAVE to change the name then change it to a name that has some significance in Limerick....JFK has nothing to do with Limerick, there are plenty of candidates (local and Irish) who would be more appropriate.
