Mr Mukata's actions represented all that is wrong in systematic abuse of power, irresponsibility and recklessness.
Pardoning a privileged murderer who wantonly killed a person who was sworn to protect would send the wrong message about the role of duty holders towards rights bearers.
It would be open season by the rich, famous and powerful against the least among us.
The best Mr Mukata can hope for is to spend the rest of his natural life in confinement so that he is an object lesson.
