Harry Reid is one of the most divisive figures in Nevada history. Naming the airport after him would inflame that divisiveness.

Harry Reid was a terrible senator. I moved to Henderson 2000 and I never saw anything that Reid accomplished. In fact he did things that made me wonder if he was really healthy.

Harry Reid does not represent Nevada nor its citizen in any good way.
He only won one of his five Senatorial elections by receiving more than 50.29% of the Nevada vote. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_history_of_Harry_Reid
He frequently made libel statements from the protection of the Senate floor including about Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney, to whom he lied about and to which he has shown no remorse. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/15/harry-reid-lied-about-mitt-romneys-taxes-hes-still-not-sorry/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.dc1d558443b9
He has embarrassed Nevada with his often crass, racist and elitist comments. Including referring to Barack Obama as being "light-skinned” and having “no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one.” [Mark Halperin/John Heilemann, Game Change].
He also made a personal ownership reference to Native American's in Nevada when talking with The Reno Gazette Journal's political reporter Ray Hagar, who blogged about a conversation they had had. "'They [Washington Redskins team owner Dan Snyder] have tried to buy off some of my Nevada Indians, and they have not been able to do that, giving them trucks and stuff like that.' His statement echoed back to plantation owners of the south, who claimed physical and legal ownership of their slaves. https://www.newsmax.com/us/harry-reid-redskins-nevada-paiute/2014/08/29/id/591669/
Mr. Reid is so toxic that his alma mater, Southern Utah University, decided to take his name off the Southern Utah University's Outdoor Engagement Center, after residents of Cedar City and alumni of SUU made it very clear that Mr. Reid did not represent their values and honoring him with his name on SUU's Outdoor Engagement Center would not be tolerated. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/harry-reid-utah-college-name/2014/08/29/id/591724/
If McCarran Airport is to be renamed, it should be renamed as “Las Vegas International Airport” as a tribute to the residents and

I strongly oppose this proposal given all the false statements he made on the Senate floor so as to escape liability laws.

We need a name that invokes the unique vibe of Las Vegas. I do not know one person that calls the airport McCarran, whoever he was. The same fate would befall it if Reid, also a has been, is the name.

Harry Reid was a despicable politician who made himself rich through dirty schemes and kickbacks. Sisolak should be ashamed of himself.

Not no, but HELL NO!! Why change the name anyway? Apparently Harry was very involved getting Sisolak elected and this must have been the cost to do business with Harry. How about Las Vegas International?? Anything but Harry Reid.
