I use root to take bloat and be off my phone.... It's not worth my time to cheat...

yes, but everyone still calls him Buzz. Just making sure you aren't trying to expand your accusations. Not out of the question given your past track record. I will always defend my little buzzard. Not the first time you've accused him of cheating either *eye roll*.

Neither duckx3 nor buzzculpepper were there. I do not know or care who is playing the accounts, but they were both being used to attack a portal and there was nobody else but me and Tigersage there. We have reported and provided photo evidence to Niantic, so it is up to them now. Also, buzzculpepper went from my pond portal the the Mexican fountain 2 miles away in 1 minute.... which isn't possible unless you are in a helicopter. Doesn't Luke have a different account now? Something like RabidLndian?

Skyblast, sounds like you're describing a taster's choice commercial here, a lovely afternoon on a park bench with a dear friend... Also, are you now accusing buzz of spoofing? Remove the tinfoil hat, sir.

My friend Tigersage and I were sitting on a bench at a pond today, talking and hacking when the portal that is there started being attacked by duckx3 and buzzculpepper.... who were not there. These accounts are both being driven by the same guy, who apparently has nothing better to do with his time than cheat at Ingress. When he determined that he couldn't get the portal down, he spoofed in his Parsival ENL account and modded it with common shields before we could get AXAs on it. This is the reality that I am facing daily in this game because Niantic can't figure out how to stop spoofing when people are rooting their phones or apparently using emulators.

I support this for the greater desire that you continue to address spoofing. I know it's a tough battle, but by whatever means you use would be appreciated!

Thanks... it's going to be an uphill battle. Until they get the spoofing under wraps, I am going to sit back and watch Jay burn the world. I fear for what he will do to the poor anomaly sites next weekend...

Multi accounts, multi devices, and spoofing? This is getting too complicated for my brain. Good luck with your mission. I just don't get it.

I have had to do some digging to figure out what the remedy could possibly be. I really don't want to know this crap, it takes up too much space in my little brain LOL Apparently there is some emulator that you can download that will let you spoof as well. I am still looking into that, but I suspect that the same root detection mechanism will work on both. I know that Jay is using multiple devices (emulators?) because he was performing simultaneous actions when he spoofed to Clover (GeneralKhaos), River Park (IAM3Per) and Richburg (duckx3) the other night.

You seem really knowledgeable about all this stuff. Suspiciously so.

I use a VPN (Private Internet Access). Their Florida location works best for me. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com It has nothing to do with Ingress :-)

Just out of curiosity, Skyblast (Steven), how did you go from being in Rock Hill, SC this morning to Miami (via posted location from your comments)? You must be on another one of your "vacations".

This is not correct. Neither Ingress or Pokemon Go will run if you have defined a Mock location app in the Developer options or set "Allow Mock Locations". The only time you can spoof your location in Ingress / PoGo is when you root your device and install Fake GPS Pro (or similar app and allow it to run as root. It is only then that Ingress does not know that you are spoofing. You can read more about that here: http://incorporateapps.com/fake_gps_paid_faq.html

Prohibiting rooted or jailbroken devices does absolutely nothing except punish people who do it for other purposes besides spoofing. Spoofing can be accomplished without root or being jailbroken. Ingress does detect whether or not mock location is being used but yes.. there are still ways to get around that.. and root access does help for those who choose to cheat with that method. However, back to the fact you can spoof your GPS without having root, and then people who use root for development purposes and for other legitimate means... this petition hurts more than it will benefit. You think a small majority of the players in Ingress or Pokemon GO are legitimate, rooted players? I can assure you that your statement of your "rather those few people be inconvenienced than all of the players of the game" affects a lot more than you think. I am fully against spoofing and other means of cheating, but this is not a proactive way to approach the problem. Besides, anyone dedicated enough will continue to cheat in whatever manner they discover with or without root access.. or find a way to hide from Niantic that they are rooted. Cheaters suck... but you're taking a shotgun and aiming it towards a direction where there will be collateral damage. As it is, I've seen legitimate players get soft-banned, or permanently banned for false reasons due to whatever anti-cheating detection that they already have in place. And guess what? I'm sure cheaters are still finding ways to skirt around those and are continuing to do it.

As well as not allowing rooted devices, I think Niantic should also limit one account per device to help alleviate the alt account issue.

Please get this done, Niantic.

No to spoofing. No to rooted devices.
