Don\'t Kill Classical Music
March 28, 2008 Dear Mr. Timothy Casgrain, Chairman of the CBC Board of Directors, and Cher M. Hubert Lacroix, President and CEO of CBC We, the undersigned, want to express our displeasure and sadness over the CBC\'s decision to disband the CBC Radio Orchestra, one of the last remaining cultural treasures of Canada. It is indeed tragic for a country as large and as prosperous as Canada to lose one of its cultural icons. The country is in the midst of a commodity-led economic boom so it is particularly shocking that no funds can be made available for maintaining a 70-year old institution that offers so much joy and inspiration to Canadians of all ethnicities and age groups. We, the undersigned, request that you reconsider this decision and reinstate the CBC Radio Orchestra. We, the undersigned, also believe that the CBC, as a public institution, should have first consulted with the Canadian public before making a decision of such national importance.
